Weymouth 2005

The weather did not co-operate on this trip. Two out of four days were total no go's due to a force 8 when even the seagulls gave up bothering to fly (allegedly). Rumour has it that some time was spent in the pub.

On the other two days our intrepid team managed to dive the M2 (a submarine with an aircraft hanger on top!), Salsette, and the James Fennel. Plus one other - no one can remember what, probably because the water was so churned up that no one could see much of any of the wrecks they were diving on anyway.

However the main interest came after the diving, when the coastguard helicopter contacted us and asked to do a practice landing on the boat. We were glad to help out, and heres the photos showing the dramatic "rescue"

Finally, on the way home, some of the team took a dunk in Vobster Quarry to console themselves and wash the salt off.

Although the diving was poor and weather worse, everyone was very happy with the boat - 'Autumn Dream' - and the skipper (Len Hurdiss) and his wife were great. There was a nice lunch on the boat each day and good beer in the pubs at night, where everyone enjoyed quiet evenings. But can anyone throw light on strange rumours circulating about Leo and a steak????
