York Sub-Aqua Club pool training takes place at Archbishop Holgate School pool. Archbishop Holgate school is located on the Hull Road. The pool session starts at 7:30pm prompt. Be there at 7:00pm to allow time to prepare kit.

Pool Directions...

The theory training sessions take place at New Earswick Sports and social club. Theory training sessions normally start 9:15 on Tuesday evenings, or on Saturday mornings, where we run several together.
The club is situated on White Rose Avenue, New Earswick.

What do we offer?

We currently train to the new BSAC training system, although we can still train people on the old system if they are having difficulties elsehere. We can also try people trained under alternative agencies, provided they become members of BSAC.

Ocean Diver is the first level of diver grade that we offer. The training will consist of several weeks of pool training, theory training and then some open water training. Ocean divers are limited to 20 metres depth. Ocean Divers will normally have to be accompanied by a Dive Leader or higher.

Sport Diver is the next diver grade. Training commences with a pool session and then further open water training. Theory training will also take place. Sport divers are limited to 35 metres and can normally dive with other Sport Divers or above.

Dive leader: Limited to depth of 50 metres once they have gained the experience. They are trained to lead divers less experienced than themselves.

Advanced Diver: Further training and experience from Dive Leader allows advanced divers to organise club trips unaided. For a more detailed understanding of the grades and training, then please check the main BSAC Website.
